On 26th November 2019, our client, Unilever, announced it has reached a partnership agreement for the development of its manufacturing facility in Sanguinetto, Italy with Menz & Gasser, the Italian manufacturer of jams and semi-processed products. The agreement involves the acquisition by Menz & Gasser of the production plant and the expansion of production through a long-term supply contract guaranteed by Unilever.
Located in the province of Verona, the Sanguinetto facility produces beef stock gel pots (the only producer of these in the world) , dehydrated risotto, stock granules and jam in jars. Following the transaction, additional mayonnaise and dry soup lines will be transferred to the site from other Unilever facilities in Europe. The partnership will further improve the competitiveness of the Sanguinetto factory thanks to the increase of production volumes due to the manufacturing demands of the two Groups.
The transaction completed on 1st June 2020. Stamford Partners acted as the sole financial advisor to Unilever on this transaction.
