Symrise acquires Diana Group from Ardian
On 12th April our client, Symrise, announced its proposed acquisition of Diana Group, from Ardian for €1,300 million, subject to Workers’ council approval and clearance by antitrust authorities.
Diana is a world leader in natural functional solutions for the food, pet food, nutraceuticals, aquaculture and cosmetics industries, and technology leader in plant cell culture, dedicated to the production of active ingredients for food, cosmetics and health. Drawing on its unique bioscience expertise, Diana’s products improve the sensorial and nutritional performance of its customers’ products, helping them establish and develop new markets. The business, which reported sales of c€425 million in 2013, is present in 23 countries with c2,000 employees.
Symrise, headquartered in Germany and listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, is a global supplier of fragrances, flavourings, cosmetic active ingredients and raw materials, as well as functional ingredients. Its clients include manufacturers of perfumes, cosmetics, food and beverages, the pharmaceutical industry and producers of nutritional supplements. Symrise had standalone sales of c€1,830 million in 2013, with operations in over 35 countries, and c6,000 employees.
The proposed acquisition turns Symrise into a top 3 player in the global flavours and fragrances market, with 2013 pro forma sales of c€2.3 billion, and with a significantly enhanced vertical integration and raw material base.
